Our Monthly Memory Verse:
so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. — Hebrews 9:28 (NIV)

The Family Closet

“I needed clothes and you clothed me…” Matthew 25:36

In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus tells the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. Part of this parable says that we will be blessed when we clothe those who are in need. The Family Closet does just that. We provide clothing and a warm welcome to individuals and families throughout the area who are in need. It also provides us an opportunity to “Go Green” by recycling gently-worn clothing as well as new clothing.

This service is offered for free, although donations are welcome, and is available every Saturday from 9:00 AM – Noon. It is staffed by friendly volunteers from our congregation and is located in two rooms in the lower level of the church. We recently added new shelving which makes the clothing easier to find and look through to find what best suites you!

We are always in need of children’s clothing, sizes 2 and up. If anyone has donations of new or gently worn clothing, they can be brought to the church off Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and Noon. Additionally, donations can be brought during the open hours of the Family Closet on Saturdays.

We have a new and inspiring year ahead. The Family Closet welcomes anyone that would be interested in volunteering!

*The Family Closet accepts personal hygiene items including Band-Aids, shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste for year round distribution. Please consider purchasing a few of these and placing in the marked bin in the sanctuary hallway.

Volunteers are always needed to sort and staff the Family Closet. If you are interested, please contact the church office at 814-684-2472, Jane Hyde at 814-684-3757 or Sharlene White at 814-684-0314.
